Renáta was born in Prague in 1964. After finishing school, she studied illustration at the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague. Since 1998 she has been illustrating and writing Renáta books for children and young people. Her main focus is upon historical topics. To date, almost 50 titles have been published around the world. In addition to working on books and for publishing houses, she has also illustrated programs for the Czech National Theatre and designed a range of postage stamps. Her illustrations have already been shown at many exhibitions and have won various national and international prizes and awards. She recently began teaching illustration at the University in Pilsen.
